ICT for Innovation

ICT for Innovation

Government of Uganda designed the National ICT Initiatives Support Programme (NIISP) to facilitate the creation of an ICT Innovation ecosystem and marketplace for Ugandan innovative digital products

The growth of the ICT innovation ecosystem in Uganda has mainly been private sector led with minimal direct support from government.

The NIISP tackles bottlenecks to creating a digital ecosystem by promoting the development and deployment of applications to create an open ecosystem in Uganda that shall enable the government, companies and individuals to innovate and reach new markets.

Uganda’s population is dominated the youth and most of them lack employment. Without commitment to eliminate poverty among the youth, the future of our country is put at risk. Maracha Community Development Centre is committed to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development goal 1 (No Poverty) and 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infratstructure). This is being achieved by the following activities.

  1. Encouraging innovation by providing training opportunities to youth in Maracha and surrounding communities.
  2. Empowering unemployed youth with ICT skills for self reliance to eradicate poverty
